The Diet
"Diet", the word confuses, frightens, confounds, and inferiorates most of the population. I blame this "misunderstanding" on the marketing whizzes that have turned a word into a weapon to sell mass diet goods of destruction. Books and magazines use this word for a sales angle and to instill a false need or fear or both. But fear not, the truth has arrived.
This section is pivotal for your health and progress inside and out. Because of all the half truths and misguided catch phrases, and most disturbingly, the easy as pie pills that doctors now prescribe that help you lose a whopping 5 pounds a year, oh, and by he way can cause irreversible damage to your system or at the vary most, kill you!
You have become jaded to say the least, when you see the word "Diet". Don't even think about adding the word exercise. The mind shuts off and any real significant information is turned away at the brainpan entrance.
Now, this is usually the point in the chapter where the writer lets you off the hook for being misinformed, WRONG!
Lesson #1 Responsibility
Lesson #2 Discern what is good and what is bad
Lesson #3 Acknowledging the out of control relationship people have with food
Lesson #4 Everybody eats more than they need to!
Lesson #5 and finally, The Excuse Buffet
A Simple Criteria
Simple! Achieving any goal, no matter how big or small, boils down to simple commitment. Korzak, the man who alone started to carve a mountain and to this day 60 years later it still goes on because of his commitment and that very commitment that he instilled in his children. Those traits are what the Indian chiefs saw in him and instinctively knew they could trust him with their sacred chief ground and allow him to carve a mountain to their ultimate Chief, Crazy Horse. YEAH BUT!

EAT CLEAN.
This means only real food, if it comes in a box and that box has words you've never heard, I guarantee your body wont know what to do with those ingredients either. They get stored as fat and future health problems.
FAST FOOD.
Do I even? Grease, pretend ingredients, etc... Yes, that means even their version of healthy, which has been trucked from here to there and unfrozen for your convenience.
THE COMFORT OF ROUTINE.
Large AM meal, medium PM meal, small evening meal. Routine of a simple diet allows your body to find its long lost rhythm and function regularly and without Cheeto's interruptions.
SNACKS.
What, are you 3? Why would you need snacks, did you do particularly well at hand painting today? Snacks, what a concept, this is what I mean by stepping back, do you ever look at what you do without thinking? This is really a key point; keep stepping back and keep asking why?
BUT IT'S NATURAL FLAVORING.
There are 85,000 registered substances that fall under that little moniker of natural flavoring.
WRITE IT DOWN.
In the beginning it really helps to write down time and food eaten. Nothing happens quicker than seeing that dinner was a mountain dew and hat breakfast was a cookie and diet pop.
EARLY TO BED/EARLY TO RISE.
The more you create a routine of food and sleep, the faster results come. Again excused are as plentiful as water in the ocean, just done go there. Regulating sleep and a clean diet will change your whole world immediately, you have nothing to lose, not even sleep.
The Master List to help assemble your new life:
| Fruit | Whole Grain | Protein |
| Berries | Oatmeal | Chicken |
| Cherry | Granola | Eggs |
| Grapes | Bran | Fish |
| Grapefruit | Nuts | Lean Bison/Elk |
| Watermelon | Almonds | Extra Lean Beef |
| Honey Dew | Walnuts | Lean Pork |
| Kiwi | ||
| Canteloupe | ||
| Apple | ||
| Orange | ||
| Banana |
The list is small for a reason; too many options create excuse fuel. Keep it simple. DON'T LIVE FOR FOOD!
Remember he list is small, but from that group of food you can create a lot of different combinations. There are obviously more healthy foods out there, but for right now, stick to the plan.
If you don't see it on the list, so what? Do some investigating and use your brain. If you have a hundred choices, you'll quit. LESS IS MORE!
The Template For Your Daily Fueling
Put this on your refrigerator, microwave, cupboard, mirror, car visor, etc... Disclaimer- You must make a commitment to this or it will not work.
RISE IN THE MORNING.
Don't just leap out of bed, sit on the edge of your bed, do some simple breathing and take a moment. This actually sets the tone for your day, calm. Calm in the way equals rational. Next, water, a glass or two while preparing your meal, my personal favorite is oatmeal, 1 cup of blueberries, and 1 scoop of protein mixed in. This is just how I do it; you want to be looking at what I am eating, not how? Coffee, whole grapefruit, and vitamins, and that's it, on with my day.
THE SECOND FUELING
begins about 6-8 hours later, depending on drive time for me. It always comes in around the 7-hour mark from the first meal. A Large mixed salad (easy on the dressing), large chicken breast, H2O, vitamins, and coffee. Yep, that's all and that's enough.
If you worry about what to eat or wait to decide at the time of the meal, you'll usually make your decision on what sounds good and not what you need. Besides, do you really want to waste your time on being obsessed with your lunch?
And last but not least, the last fueling of the day. The smallest, because I'm done, I don't need 100 gallons of fuel to walk to my bed and fall over. Usually, a grapefruit and a homemade protein bar (recipe included). That's 2 hours before bedtime, which is always the same time for me, within a 30-minute range. And that's it.
Now, the point that needs to be made here is, No, you don't have to eat what I wrote for mine. Find from the master list things that work for you. Just get this rhythm down. Large, medium, small, no snacking. I'm Hungry! Good, let that metabolism start to crank and don't forget to keep investigating what is clean and healthy, change items, but not amounts or time.
The first meal of the day really does set the tone, get that one right and the rest will follow.
Learn to eat amounts you need, not eat until your stuffed; this is counter-productive. You will absolutely feel better by not being full. It's your brain that will try and tell you different.
Ok, if any of these things came out of your brain while reading this, your brain is now officially busted. By that I mean, look at how you quit before you started. Excuses are just that, EXCUSES! Now is the time to look at your motivation, just in general.
The other thing that absolutely everyone says is, "don't you get bored eating the same thing all the time?" Well, let's stop right here, think about what you just said or in this case, thought. "Don't you get bored?" NO, because I place no happiness or sadness or any other emotional need on food.
But the fact that, that statement comes to everybody's brain after hearing what the plan is, is very telling about the mass awareness of people in general or unawareness if you will.
"Don't you get bored?" Why would I? My life does not revolve around food or alcohol anymore, it use to, but that's another book.
The one thing your ego is going to start doing at this point is creating your keep (your ego will call them reasons). The success or failure of this diet change really depends on you seeing that moment and fight back the desire to second guess what you know is the right choice. Remember the right choice always comes into view first in the mind's eye.
Again, 3 meals (Large, Medium, Small)
- Clean
- No Fast Food
- Eat Fresh when possible
- Water throughout the day
- Adjust meal sizes, don't add, just move amount around
Start saving your money from pop, chips, and pizza and put it in a jar. At the end of each month send me half and we'll both make money.
"Hey, you forgot about dairy", ah yes, dairy. The comment, "you know my bones are…" Stop! Most all-legitimate studies agree that after the age of 12-13 you really don't require dairy in your diet. Is it bad, no, is it good, no! Like everything else, learn about what you need, but to clean out your system, you would do well to stop dairy. You will feel better.
(Add Actual student diets that are all built on the premise of my philosophy)
The wrap up
(the donuts are always bigger on the other side of the plate)
Why do diets fail? Why do people quit them? Can all those books, which are basically the same, be wrong? Why are you so hard to help? Why does everyone else have a success story and not you?
The Ego! The ego must be treated as a third party, don't fall for it. You can do or be anything you want, that is a fact, I prove it! All I ever did, really, was decide to do it.
SO START TO CARVE YOUR MOUNTAIN!
